The Venusberg and the landscape around Dachtel

More than half of Aidlingen’s municipal area is under nature or landscape protection. The Venusberg Nature Reserve covers around 115 hectares and is the largest nature reserve in Böblingen district. The heights of the Venusberg offer fine views. Here, the landscape itself takes centre stage—not just individual viewpoints or stops along the way.

The Storrenberg also has a distinctive landscape within the municipality: it lies west of Dachtel and is characterised by juniper heaths, flower-rich meadows, hedges and old fruit trees. If you would like to explore the area around Dachtel, you can choose between two named routes: the Hans-Mozer-Weg and the Jubiläumsweg. Their names distinguish the routes; both invite you to discover the landscape around Dachtel.

The LandTour Venusberg introduces further nature themes: a soil trail station is located along the route by Lehenweiher. Three nature information portals along the route draw attention to natural works of art and explain the Heckengäu’s ecological landscape features. If you plan to stop at these stations, check their condition before your visit. This lets you combine the route with a closer look at nature and landscape ecology, without having to bring different themes together as a single experience.

Collection and local history

The East German Local Heritage Room of the Federation of Expellees is on the second floor of the Hopfenhaus in Aidlingen. Its collection focuses on Carpathian German traditional costumes from the Upper Zips. This is a clearly defined cultural subject alongside the nature experiences: the collection focuses on clothing and the history of its origins, while the Venusberg and Storrenberg put the landscape centre stage.

Another connection to the area leads to Deufringen, which has been part of the municipality of Aidlingen since 1971. Deufringen Castle has shaped the townscape for centuries and recalls the Lords of Gültlingen. Today, it is a cultural centre. This makes the castle an interesting part of local history, without assuming that you will visit its interiors. When planning, you can weigh up exploring the landscape against focusing on culture in the municipality.
