The municipality's history includes its affiliation with the Oberamt Waldsee and the Waldsee district. Since the administrative reform of 1938, the municipality has belonged to the Biberach district. Eberhardzell later became part of Württemberg-Hohenzollern, before Baden-Württemberg was formed in 1952.
