Couzon-au-Mont-d'Or lies between the Saône and the Monts d'Or. The now-disused quarries with their yellow stone have shaped the landscape; north of the village, the quarry face is still clearly visible.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Maurice is listed as a historic monument; the listing dates from 23 November 2021.
Saint-Maurice has a massive profile with a severe design and a distinctly characteristic style of Bossan art.
The church was built in 1855; its architecture is attributed to Pierre Bossan.
The local history also includes the Madone: the three-metre-high painted bronze statue was cast from a model of the Lourdes Madonna by the Lyon sculptor Fabisch.
On 5 February 1888, the Madone was erected at La Vénagère, where it overlooks the village.
Paths and Landscape
The “De carrières en Fricoule” circular trail runs from the centre of Couzon to the Roman aqueduct, along old vineyards and to the “de Couzon” yellow-stone quarries; it also passes Cabornes and Chirats.

For cycling, the first completed section of Voie lyonnaise 3 in Couzon is 900 metres long. It runs from the town centre to the northern exit of the village towards Albigny-sur-Saône.
