Culture and History
The Musée EDF Hydrélec opened in 1988 after construction work on the Grand'Maison hydroelectric facility had been completed. It explains how the facility works and displays equipment and machinery used before various power stations were modernised. The museum extends over three floors and covers almost 1,000 m². Its content ranges from the early use of hydropower to the construction of large dams. Since 1988, the Musée EDF Hydrélec has held the designation “Musée de France”, awarded by the French Ministry of Culture, and contains almost 450 collection objects.
La Villette also contains historic landmarks. The Chapelle Saint-Antoine in the hamlet of La Villette was first mentioned in 1488. The Four banal de La Villette dates from the period of feudal organisation; bread is still traditionally baked there.
The Espace Musée de Vaujany is an immersive visitor centre dedicated to the local natural environment, historical heritage and major local changes. It presents stories from village life in the past and former local occupations. The Espace Musée also includes a professional flight simulator, which allows visitors to learn how to pilot an aircraft during a virtual flight over Vaujany and its surroundings.

Activities
The Espace Nature et Loisirs du Collet offers water games and large slides. The Pumptrack de Vaujany has several courses with varying levels of difficulty. Its modules can be used with scooters, skateboards and bicycles.
The Via Ferrata de la Cascade de La Fare consists of several sections that can be completed separately. It is suitable for beginners aged 14 and over as well as experienced climbers. The approach from the car park in La Villette to the Via Ferrata de la Cascade de La Fare takes 40 minutes and includes 118 metres of elevation gain.
“Le chant de la cascade de la Fare” is a themed walking trail that starts in Vaujany. Family-friendly and more physically demanding cycling routes for exploring the Massif des Grandes Rousses also start in Vaujany.
Mountains and Trails
The route via the Plan des Cavalles runs across a high-altitude viewing terrace suspended below the Pic de l’Étendard. Streams and lakes, including La Jasse, Balme Rousse and Fare, are located along this route.
