Saint-Maurice-Sur-Eygues: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Tour des Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem visible today is a 12th-century building in Saint-Maurice-sur-Eygues. When planning a trip to Saint-Maurice-sur-Eygues, some people focus on the desire to rent a holiday apartment.
History and Culture
The Tour des Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem is integrated into the Château Sainte-Anne. It originated from a former hospital that was converted into a residence for the lords of Saint-Maurice.
The Saint-Maurice Histoire et Patrimoine museum area was inaugurated on 29 October 2011. The Musée municipal Histoire et Patrimoine displays Gallo-Roman remains and the history of the municipality.
Nature and Landscape
The municipality is bordered by the Eygues to the south. The village of Saint-Maurice lies on a slope facing entirely south, above the Eygues. At the same time, Saint-Maurice-sur-Eygues is a gateway town to the Parc Naturel Régional des Baronnies Provençales.
Wine and Tradition
The Côtes du Rhône Villages Saint-Maurice wine-growing area extends across the municipality of Saint-Maurice-sur-Eygues. The Côtes du Rhône Villages Saint-Maurice wine designation was recognised in 1967 within the Côtes du Rhône Villages AOC.
The Cave des Coteaux de Saint-Maurice was founded in 1939 by 75 winegrowers. Wines can be tasted in its renovated tasting room. For six generations, the Bédouin family has passed down a tradition of regional products, with a particular focus on almonds; the sale of local products began in Visan in 1833.
