Rocher lies in the valley of the Ligne and in a mountain basin dominated by the Cham du Cros. The area also has numerous hiking trails, many of which are marked.
Landscape and nature
The Ligne is a river in the Cévennes with a fast current and a rocky riverbed that forms pools and rapids in places. Beavers, otters, white-throated dippers and grey wagtails can be found along the Ligne.
The Vierge du Ranc Courbier can be reached from the designated car park in the hamlet of Joux or from the centre of Rocher. From there, it offers a panorama of the Ligne valley, southern Ardèche and Mont Ventoux.
