The Wow Safari Peaugres combines a drive-through safari and a walking safari across 80 hectares, home to 1,300 animals from five continents. Hiking
Le Bois de Bégut is a moderately difficult, 9.1-kilometre circular hike lasting three hours. The route starts and ends at the Place de l'Eglise in Peaugres; the starting point has an information board, a water connection and public toilets. Several viewpoints offer views over the Annonay basin, the Vivarais mountains and the Rhône Valley.
Another circular hike is called Le Château des Célestins. It is moderately difficult, 12.6 kilometres long and takes four hours. The route passes through orchards, forests and hamlets, past streams and a pond, as well as old castles. It leads through Peaugres to the Château des Célestins and then back to the village.
Culture and History
The first traces of the village of Peaugres date back to the 13th century. Peaugres was originally under the authority of the Benedictine Order of Cluny, which had a priory here behind the church.
In the area around Peaugres are La Tour d'Albon, a monument, and the Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Champagne, a church.
Geographical Setting
In the wider regional area around Peaugres are the mountains Crêt de Peillouté, Les Trois Dents, Crêt de Graland and Crêt de l'Airellier. The historic sites Ancien Prieuré de Veyrines and Monastère de Clavas are also located there.
