Ozon preserves its rural character through fruit growing and winegrowing; most of the vineyards belong to the Saint-Joseph Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée.
Those choosing Ozon as a travel destination may want to rent a holiday apartment.
Hiking
The Passerelle de l’Ardennes is a footbridge between Sécheras and Éclassan over the Ozon River. It is located at a municipal boundary junction between Sécheras, Éclassan, Arras-sur-Rhône and Ozon. It was built to ensure hikers’ safety along a route that was often impassable and dangerous in rainy weather.
The Rives de l’Ozon hiking loop crosses the Passerelle de l’Ardennes and starts in Arras-sur-Rhône. This moderate circular hike is 11.2 km long and takes about three and a half hours.
Le grand huit is a circular hike starting at the Salle polyvalente d’Ozon above the village. The difficult hike covers 18.0 km, with 589 m of ascent and 590 m of descent, and takes six hours. It follows the Rhône banks, vineyard slopes, plateaus and deeply cut valleys.
Nature
Rives de l’Ozon passes through the wild, deeply cut Ozon Valley, across the plateau and along the slopes of Saint-Joseph, offering views of the Rhône Valley and the Alps.
The Le Panoramic restaurant offers views of the Rhône’s meanders, the Alps and the Vercors. Ozon also has a viewpoint overlooking the Défilé Panoramique de St Vallier.
Culture
The chapel in Ozon was built in the 11th century by the order of monks from St Chaffre and dedicated to the martyr soldiers Pierre and Paul. Originally, it was part of a fortified village and is a medieval remnant of the municipality of Ozon.
At Port du Roure in Ozon, the present-day memorial monument stands approximately ten metres from the site where ten prisoners were executed.
There is nearby parking at the chapel, as well as guided and unguided visits for individuals and groups; admission is free.
