Mauves: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In “Les Misérables”, Victor Hugo mentions the wine of Mauves, which is now called Saint-Joseph.
The desire to rent a holiday apartment in Mauves may be part of personal travel planning.
Culture
On the slopes of the Mauves terroir, the Gauls, Helvii and Allobroges, in exchange with the merchants of the Phocaean Greek colony of Marseille, built dry-stone terraces known as “chalets” to cultivate vines and olive trees.
Nature
The Lône de Pierrelles is a former Rhône channel and is classified as a “Sensitive Natural Area”. The Lac des Pierrelles is an artificial body of water that is connected to the Rhône’s counter-channel during high water.
The Lac des Pierrelles has a circumference of around 4 km and is suitable for walking. The purpose-built path around the lake can be used at any time of year; it is flat and suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Night-time carp fishing is possible at the Lac des Pierrelles from 1 June to 31 December.
Trails
The “La voie panoramique” hike passes through the Saint-Joseph wine-growing region and offers views of the village of Mauves and the Rhône Valley. It is an easy hike and is accessible to mountain bikers at a very easy level.
“Détours en vignes: Saint Joseph” is a hiking route through the vineyards.
Wine
The Domaine Jean-Claude Marsanne winery invites visitors to wine tastings in the winery’s cellar.
