In Le Roux, hiking is an outdoor activity option. The easy circular hike Vestide du Pal – Le Roux is 6.34 kilometres long and takes two hours.
The hike follows the edge of one of Europe's largest maar craters and combines forest landscapes with high-altitude pastures. It begins at the Géototem in the hamlet of Fontaulière in Le Roux.

Au pays des Sources is a 12.13-kilometre route lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes that begins and ends in Le Roux. After setting off from Le Roux town hall, the route climbs along a calade beside a stream and crosses the Rieugrand stream at a ford.
The Col de la Marugier – Le Roux route is a difficult 11.4-kilometre circular hike lasting 4 hours and 15 minutes; it begins and ends at Le Roux town hall. It follows the watershed between the Mediterranean and Atlantic basins.
Culture
A small sanctuary dedicated to the Gallic god Abellio is said to have been built along the path at the Col de la Marugier. The Col de la Marugier was formerly called Col Abellio and later, in the Middle Ages, Col de Sainte-Abeille.
Sainte Abeille in Le Roux was the site of a Gallo-Roman temple dedicated to the sources of the Loire. The historic Route du Pal also passed through Le Roux.
Le Roux has a 3,300-metre-long tunnel that was built at the beginning of the 20th century for a planned railway connection between Le Puy-en-Velay and Aubenas; the project was abandoned after the war.
