Lagorce: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
A concise way to discover the landscape around Lagorce is the circular trail Les balcons de l’Ibie. It starts in the village, is 8 km long, takes around 2 hours and 45 minutes, and is marked with white-and-yellow PR trail markers. Above the Ibie Valley, the route leads to remarkable viewpoints. It also runs to the Notre-Dame d’Ajude chapel; beneath a cedar, there is a view of the village.
Culture and History
Lagorce preserves a strong medieval character that visitors can discover in the village. The church of Lagorce was built over two churches situated one above the other. The restored lower church beneath the present-day building serves as an event hall.
The small Notre-Dame d’Ajude chapel is also one of Lagorce’s historic sites. It dates from the 12th century; a documented repair order is dated 1392.
At the Musée Vivant du Ver à Soie, the history of silkworm farming is brought to life: The museum is located in a former silkworm farm and displays living Bombyx mori at all stages of metamorphosis. Under the guidance of breeders, visitors can touch silkworms, collect cocoons, and draw out silk threads.
Local Produce
Domaine de Vigier is an organically run family winery in the Ibie Valley region. It produces wines under the IGP Ardèche and AOP Côtes du Vivarais designations of origin.
During a guided tour of the Melvita factory in Lagorce, visitors gain insights into the laboratories, production workshops, and product packaging.
La Ferme des Abeilles offers a guided tour of the honey factory with a commentary and tasting, as well as a gallery with fully glazed beehives. In addition, by prior reservation and for visitors aged seven and over, it offers an introduction to beekeeping. Visitors put on protective clothing and are guided to a shaded apiary.
