Nature

Volcanic scoria can be found along the path leading to the summit of the Coupe de Jaujac. The Serre des Blachis and Sommet de Fontfreyde mountains are located in the immediate vicinity of Jaujac. The Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche, a regional nature park, is also nearby. The La Cham du Cros and Sommet de Bournazon mountains are located in the surrounding area of Jaujac.

Visits and Trails

The Maison du Parc des Monts d’Ardèche is located at the centre of a 40-hectare site at the foot of the Coupe de Jaujac. Visitors are welcomed there during the school holidays and from mid-June to mid-September. The Maison includes exhibitions, an information and book area, and a shop selling local products. The site can be explored year-round via the “la coulée vive” interpretation trail. The circular trail “Le sentier qui pétille”, which is approximately 1.2 km long, also begins there.

Places and Markets

At the La Turbine site, the basalt formations can be viewed up close, including true and false columns as well as prisms. The medieval Chastelas district can be reached via old paved lanes. Markets selling local products are held on Tuesday and Friday mornings throughout the year at Place du Champ de Mars.

The wider regional surroundings of Jaujac include the ruins of Abbaye de Mazan, the ruins of Château de la Roche, and the ancient site “Alba-la-Romaine (Ardèche, France) -- Théâtre gallo-romain”.
