Chambonas: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Pont de Chambonas is the most significant medieval bridge in the Ardèche. It was probably built by the Benedictines of Saint-Gilles and was an important crossing between the south and the Massif Central.

Culture and History

The Église Saint Martin de Chambonas was rebuilt at the beginning of the 13th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 5 August 1907. Beneath its also decorated cornice, it has a series of carved corbels.

The Château de Chambonas was built in the 13th century by the De Lagarde family. Its features include five imposing towers with glazed roofs, as well as a French garden consisting of five terraces aligned with the bridge.

Trails and Water

The GR de Pays Le Cévenol passes through Chambonas on its fourth stage. The Les Hameaux route (No. 43) is a difficult 15.3 km hiking route. As a circular route, it runs through the hamlets of Chambonas, between vineyards and chestnut trees.

Chambonas offers direct access to the Chassezac. At the Pont de Chambonas, the Base nautique Pont de Chambonas rents out pedal boats, canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards on the water.

Local Life

The market of local producers and artisans in Le Pont Park in Chambonas offers local cheese, honey, bread, eggs, plants, vegetables, beer, catering services and local crafts.
