The permanent exhibition at the MuséAl presents finds from the archaeological site and the excavations at Alba. The exhibits include an imposing statue of Emperor Trajan made of Greek marble, golden stars and a fish mosaic.
In the medieval old town of Alba-la-Romaine, within the 13th-century fortifications, there is a labyrinth of narrow, paved and vaulted lanes. The Church of Saint André was built between 1598 and 1699, while the ancient theatre of Alba is crossed by a stream.
The Château d’Alba combines an 11th-century keep, a château dating from the 15th to the 17th century and a 19th-century trompe-l’œil façade; inside are furnished historic rooms. Visitors can explore the outdoor areas, the cellar and the two furnished floors.
The archaeological site of Alba is freely accessible and has no closing times. A free audio guide can be downloaded via smartphone.
Those planning their stay in Alba-la-Romaine may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
