A prominent feature of Pont-de-Vaux is the Canal de Pont-de-Vaux. It is considered France’s smallest navigable canal, is 4 km long and runs from the Saône to the town centre.

Historical traces are also present in the townscape: remnants of the town wall, mullioned windows, Renaissance pilasters and half-timbered houses bear witness to the town’s former structure. Pont-de-Vaux also has several private 18th-century palaces with Neoclassical façades.

The “Les deux rives de la Saône” cycle route runs along the Canal de Pont-de-Vaux and then along the Voie Bleue and is suitable for the whole family.
