Holiday apartment in Les Infournas – Mountain trails and special discoveries

Les Infournas combines a distinct mountain setting with surprisingly diverse discoveries. The village consists of the two hamlets of Les Infournas Bas and Les Infournas Hauts. Les Infournas Hauts is considered a starting point for mountain hikes and lies at an altitude of 1,373 m. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Les Infournas, this division provides a helpful orientation between hiking trails, culture and local experiences.

Woodlands and access to the Drac Valley

Wooded areas lie to the south of Les Infournas. A hike to the Col du Cendrier leads through this forest to the Maison Forestière de Subeyranne and its beautiful spring. This is followed by a steep climb to the exposed Barry ridge and on to the Col du Cendrier. The landscape is therefore not only a high-altitude setting, but also a starting point for trails with distinctly different routes.

For geographical orientation, access to the Drac Valley is also important, as it is a major transport route in the region. From Les Infournas, this access is possible only via two winding roads: one leads northwest to Chauffayer, 10 km away; the other runs south to Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur, 7 km away. These distances help you assess the location realistically when choosing your accommodation.

Hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding routes

Several routes make Les Infournas appealing for a variety of active travel plans. The three-day mountain-biking circular route “Tour du Champsaur VTT – 3 days” passes through Les Infournas. On the “From Charbillac to Les Payas” stage, the route runs southeast from Charbillac towards Les Infournas Hauts; after 4.2 km, it follows trails marked with GR and PR waymarkers.

A route also passes through the village on horseback: the “Tour du Champsaur-Valgaudemar à cheval” runs through the protected landscape of Les Infournas and past the Maison Forestière de Subeyrannes.

Workshops, folk art and historical details

In addition to its routes, Les Infournas also has cultural points of interest. Les Ateliers Perchés comprises two studio exhibitions by Véronique and Martine: one is located in Les Infournas Hauts, the other in Les Infournas Bas. Three exhibitions are held there each year, in spring, during the week around 15 August and at the beginning of December.

The nearby Chapelle des Petètes has been classified as a historic monument since 1994 and is considered a symbol of local folk art. Since the 18th century, small statuettes with naive expressions have adorned its façade. Another historical detail can be found on a farm in Les Infournas Bas: its door is based on 14th-century models and may have been made as late as the 16th century.

Experiencing honey and choosing the right holiday apartment

Bees and honey are also part of the local experience. The honey experience at Ferme Drouhot includes an exchange with the producers about bees. In Les Infournas Hauts, La Miellerie d'Émilie also offers a demonstration of honey extraction. When searching for a holiday apartment in Les Infournas, you can therefore consider whether mountain hikes, one of the routes, studio exhibitions, folk art or regional products should be the focus of your stay.
