Xaintray is characterized by a bocage landscape and valleys with pronounced relief. The village centre, situated on a hill, overlooks the valley of the “ruisseau du bourg”.

Culture
The Église Saint-Eugène dates from the late 12th or early 13th century. It has a single-nave layout, a semicircular Romanesque apse and a south portal with five rows of archivolts. By decree of 19 March 1990, it was classified as a Monument historique.
The circular route “Le logis de Pichenin” starts at the church square, is 11 km long, takes 2 hours and 45 minutes, and is marked in yellow. On its route through Xaintray, the trail passes the access avenue to the private Château de Pichenin. The Château de Pichenin is a quadrilateral surrounded by moats.
The Croix de la Huche is a very old Calvary, dated to around the year 1000.
Near Xaintray lies the Château de Mursay, a historic site. In the wider regional surroundings of Xaintray are the Prieuré de la Salette, the Abbaye Saint-Vincent and the Ancienne Abbaye de Saint-Liguaire, each historic sites.
Hiking
The circular route “Le lavoir de la Racounette” passes through the valleys of the Autize and the Chancelée. It offers viewpoints over the landscape and the small cultural heritage.
