The Forêt domaniale de Secondigny covers almost 430 hectares and lies nearly 250 metres above the surrounding area. It also features historic buildings, signposted paths, waterside leisure activities and a strong apple-growing tradition.
Culture and events
Pomm’Expo has been held in Secondigny every October for more than 65 years. During the nine-day programme, a pomological exhibition and an art salon are open to the public free of charge for nine days.
The Église Sainte-Eulalie was built in the 12th century and altered in the 13th century. Its bell tower is square at the base and octagonal in the upper section. The church is partially protected as a Monument historique; the protection was granted on 7 February 1929.
A second covered washhouse was built on the banks of the Thouet in Rue du Bosquet.

Nature and trails
A botanical educational trail in the Forêt de Secondigny begins at the Maison forestière car park and forms a 4.5-kilometre loop. It presents the forest’s main tree species, undergrowth shrubs and plants, forestry techniques and the development of forest soils. The Forêt de Secondigny also has three discovery trails for exploring the local flora and fauna.
A blue-marked, 11.6-kilometre route includes part of the GR 364 and passes by the Moulin de Battreau. In cooperation with La Marouette Gâtinaise, Secondigny offers signposted hiking and mountain biking routes.
A green-marked circular trail runs around the Plan d'eau des Effres and the Bois de l'Aumônerie. The Bois de l'Aumônerie is located in the immediate vicinity of the Plan d'eau des Effres and offers walks along shaded paths and sunny avenues.
Leisure by the water
The leisure area around the Lac des Effres includes fitness trails for children and adults, fitness equipment, a mini football stadium, a skate park and a BMX cross-country track. The Lac des Effres is used for fishing and fishing competitions.
The Piscine Secondigny has a heated swimming pool and a heated paddling pool. There is also a slide with a landing pool.
Apples and local tradition
The apple, particularly the Reinette Clochard, is another emblem of Secondigny. The Verger conservatoire de Secondigny contains more than 100 apple varieties, including 57 varieties of reinette apples.
Activities offered year-round at the Verger conservatoire de Secondigny include pruning and grafting trees. The Association Doré de Gâtine enables people with or without their own apples to make apple juice themselves.
