Landscape and Trails
Berneuil is characterised by limestone slopes that reach more than 160 metres in height. Four streams cross the area: the Maury, the Grande Fontaine, the Gorre and the Gourdine. The valleys and part of the slopes of Berneuil are designated Natura 2000 sites.
The Sentier des Coteaux is located at the Place du village in the centre of Berneuil. Typical dovecotes can be seen along the Sentier des Coteaux.
Culture and History
The Moulin à vent de Chez les Rois windmill is well preserved. The Église Notre-Dame is a Romanesque church built in the second half of the 12th century.
The Église Notre-Dame contains a 15th-century mural. It depicts Saint Louis – Louis IX, King of France and protector of the poor and sick – as well as Saint Apollonia.
The washhouse next to the Fontaine Notre-Dame once welcomed pilgrims seeking cures for eye ailments. Guided tours of the Église Notre-Dame can be arranged on request through Jean Marie Arsicault.
