Pierrefonds: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Pierrefonds is dominated by the Château de Pierrefonds, which was redesigned in the 19th century by the architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc. The monument and its park can be explored freely.
When staying in Pierrefonds, the desire to rent a holiday apartment may be part of your travel planning.
Culture
The Musée de Pierrefonds presents more than 400 works in around 20 exhibitions and offers free, self-guided visits. Another special form of interpretation is Le bal des Gisants: a contemporary, immersive historical promenade with changing lighting, projections and whispered poems.
Nature
The park of the Château de Pierrefonds covers 5 hectares, includes hundred-year-old trees and offers views of the château. Pierrefonds lies on the edge of the 15,000-hectare Forest of Compiègne.
Below the château, the former Pierrefonds-les-Bains thermal resort stretches along the lake. The pedestrian square in Pierrefonds faces the lake and hosts the market. Benches line the promenade along the Mail, overlooking the pond; the pond can be almost completely circumnavigated.
Activities
Grimp à l’Arb offers 13 courses for all age groups among hundred-year-old oak trees. Between Compiègne and Pierrefonds, Grimp à l’Arb also offers a treetop and adventure experience with courses of varying difficulty.
The escape game “L’enquête du Graal” takes players through the streets of Pierrefonds to collect clues before returning to the museum and completing the quests. At Mini-golf du Kiosque, you can play a round of mini-golf with views of Lake Pierrefonds and the Château de Pierrefonds.
