The Église Saint-Martin de Vendhuile has been listed as a Monument historique since 4 November 1994. It was built from the beginning of 1927 to August 1928; it was initially designed by the Parisian architect Jacques Droz (1882–1955).
The Unicorn Cemetery (Cimetière de la Licorne) in Vendhuile is the resting place of 1,008 of the Commonwealth soldiers buried in the municipality. More than 400 graves in this cemetery bear no engraved names. In total, Vendhuile has two burial sites where 1,010 Commonwealth soldiers who fell between 1914 and 1918 are buried.
Paths and Waterways
The Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela via the Escaut Route enters the Pays du Vermandois area near Vendhuile, after Honnecourt-sur-Escaut. The Canal de Saint-Quentin is also used by recreational boaters in the Pays du Vermandois.
Food and Craftsmanship
L'Orée du bois is a crêperie and salad restaurant in the Bois de La Terrière in Vendhuile. It is located in 30 hectares of woodland, in a hunting lodge designed in the Norman style on the border between the D644 and D1044.
At the production workshop of La Brasserie de l’Escaut, visitors can discover the beverages made there. The brewery produces craft beer under the name “La Vandale”.
David Pineda offers beers made from pure malt that are balanced, finely hopped and bottle-conditioned. They are produced without additives, sugar or added carbonation. Since 2015, Béa has been making artisan jams and jellies from seasonal fruit.
