Prémont: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Prémont, churches, chapels, a Commonwealth cemetery and monuments are among the places with various historical connections. The Église Saint-Germain de Prémont was rebuilt after the First World War and is set back opposite the former church, which stood directly beside the road. The foundations of this former church are visible next to the Chemin du Cimetière.

On the outskirts of Prémont, the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Sept-Douleurs was built around 1840 by Abbé Gret. It was built on the site of an older pilgrims’ chapel that had been destroyed during the Revolution. Prémont British Cemetery contains 536 Commonwealth casualties and 572 graves from the First World War. The cemetery is accessible to wheelchair users via the main entrance. The tour-pigeonnier is the only surviving element of the historic village of Prémont.

The memory of the liberation of the village is also present in Prémont: the Prémont Liberation Monument commemorates its recapture by American troops on 8 October 1918. A liberation monument in Prémont was inaugurated on 29 April 1923. On the third Sunday in September, a procession also takes place between the Église Saint-Germain de Prémont and the Chapelle Notre-Dame des Sept-Douleurs.

In the vicinity of Prémont are the Château de Beaurevoir, a château, the Abbaye Des Guillemins, a monastery, the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Fervaques, a historic site, and the Abbaye de Vaucelles, also a historic site.

The “Autour de Prémont” hiking route runs over dirt, grass, gravel and asphalt surfaces. For this hike, you can park in the car park opposite the town hall on Rue du Général Tyson.
