Ohis: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
The “La Thiérache vue d’Ohis” walk follows the Axe Vert, through the streets of Ohis and along the Oise. Thematic information panels provide information about the surrounding border region.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Ohis is choosing accommodation in the village.
Culture and history
The former agricultural buildings at 12 rue de l'église, with their gateway, barn and the façades of the residential building, are partly listed in the register of historic monuments. The building at this address can be visited during Heritage Days.
A commemorative plaque honouring Jean Richepin is affixed to the kiosk in Ohis. The lavoir in Ohis also refers to the history of the village: it is connected with the demand made by the women of Thiérache at the end of the 19th century for proper washhouses with a roof and chimney. The lavoir is located at the end of the ruelle d'Ejosse; access is via the rue du stade.
Nature and structures
The Viaduc d'Ohis is the most significant engineering structure on the Route Axe Vert de la Thiérache and spans the river with high arches.
L'île d'Ohis is a piece of land between two branches of the Oise. It is accessible from the municipal accommodation when the gate is open; on L'île d'Ohis, you can listen to the birds.
