Fontaine-Notre-Dame combines a rural character, environmental quality and quality of life with its proximity to the urban centre of the Agglomération du Saint-Quentinois. At the exit of the village towards Fieulaine, an old statue of the Virgin Mary stands on departmental road 68.
History and Remembrance
During the executions on 27 August 1944, 19 members of the Resistance were buried in a mass grave. The arrested members of the Resistance were lined up against the wall of the Abreuvoir Marolle. Also on 27 August 1944, a German column set up its headquarters at the Ferme Malin in Fontaine-Notre-Dame.
On 25 August 2024, a plaque belonging to the departmental “Aisne Terre de Mémoire” network was unveiled at the Fontaine-Notre-Dame memorial site. A commemorative ceremony includes a procession with the Harmonie de Seboncourt, a church service and the laying of a wreath at the war memorial.

The Église Nativité de la Sainte-Vierge is a Catholic parish church in Fontaine-Notre-Dame and belongs to the Diocese of Soissons–Laon–Saint-Quentin.
Landscape and Route
The walking route “Fontaine Notre Dame - le Noirieu - Fonsomme - Fontaine ND”, rated as easy, is 13.9 km long. It passes through a wooded section and along the Noirieu. The route returns to Fontaine-Notre-Dame via the Chemin du Roi.
