Geographical location

History and culture

A Gallo-Roman villa was built in Mercin around the middle of the 1st century BC. The former Château de Mercin was built from the 13th century onwards as the seat of the lordship and residence of the local lords. In 1909, the former Château de Mercin became the property of the municipality; the town hall, school and teachers' accommodation were established there.

The ruins of the Ancienne abbaye Saint-Jean-des-Vignes are located in the immediate vicinity of Mercin-et-Vaux. The historic site of Ancienne abbaye Saint-Léger is also located nearby, as is the historic site of Couvent des Feuillants. The Château d'Ecuiry is located in the surroundings of Mercin-et-Vaux.

Leisure

The former Rochy-Condé railway line, now a greenway and memorial trail, crosses the territory of Mercin-et-Vaux. It was converted into a greenway in 2016 so that cyclists and pedestrians could travel safely. The Rochy-Condé greenway is 6 kilometres long.
