Le Perrier lies in the heart of the Marais Breton Vendéen. Ninety percent of the town is located in a Natura 2000 zone, where visitors can explore an exceptional variety of wildlife and plant life.

For a short walk, the Jardin des senteurs is ideal: it includes a footpath and a wooden walkway along a planted artificial water channel, making it suitable for an immersive stroll.

Culture and History

The Église Saint Sauveur du Perrier has eleven stained-glass windows designed and installed by Louis Mazetier in 1943. Its history also reaches back to the time of the Vendée Wars: the church was severely damaged then and remained reduced to its four walls until 1810, when reconstruction began. Guided tours are offered in summer, while tours can be arranged on request throughout the year.

Le Signal is housed in two former 19th-century longhouses typical of the Marais Breton Vendéen. It hosts summer activities such as carriage rides by Déambul, as well as exhibitions and other events throughout the year. The Espace culturel also organises exhibitions, a literary prize, readings for children and meetings.

Getting Around

The Sentier des roseaux is a designated hiking trail in Le Perrier, while the Boucle des Yoles is a designated cycle route through the town. A route for pedestrians and cyclists runs from the Sentier des Halles to the Centre culturel Le Marô, passing alongside the Jardin de la cure and the École du Marais.

Déambul starts at Le Signal in Le Perrier and leads on foot through the town to the Étier de la Taillée, before continuing by yole. The yole used by Déambul represents an earlier method of transport in the marshes, used by residents when their land was flooded in winter.

Déambul also offers a yole ride that can be followed by a carriage ride. In July and August, there are free concerts and performances on Tuesday evenings, as well as twilight walks on Friday evenings. Les Escapades de Marius in Le Perrier offers outdoor escape games and tablet-guided discovery tours for families or friends.
