History

The parish church of Notre-Dame de Villaines-sous-Lucé was built from the mid-11th century onwards; parts of the south wall of the nave and the western gable wall have been preserved.

Villaines-sous-Lucé lies on a slope on the left bank of the Veuve valley. The R.D. 13 crosses the village from east to west and connects La Flèche with Saint-Calais.

The Menhir dit de Pierre Aigue is a possibly Neolithic megalith. The house Maison dite Le Chapeau Rouge, at 13 rue de Cassière, is the only example in the village of a residential building with an external stair tower and portal; this arrangement is characteristic of the 16th century.
