Historical landmarks in Sceaux-sur-Huisne include the Château des Roches and the Église Saint-Germain, as well as the former manor house Manoir de la Cour and Gallo-Roman remains. One of the town’s prominent architectural monuments is the Château des Roches, which was listed as a historic monument on 27 June 1984. The protected elements include the façades and roofs, except those of the service building added to the west, as well as the oratory on the ground floor of the north-western tower, the vaulted cellars and the underground rooms.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Germain was also listed as a historic monument on 9 December 1926. Its choir and bell tower were probably built in the first half of the 16th century in the Flamboyant Gothic style. Four sculptures are located at the top of the bell tower, including a clearly recognisable dragon.

The former Manoir de la Cour stands on the still clearly visible foundations of an older building with regularly alternating layers of rubble stone and brick. Below the town centre, in the Huisne valley at the foot of the Manoir de la Cour, lies the now-covered archaeological site of the baths of a villa. To the west of the town centre, the remains of another Gallo-Roman villa were excavated near the Château de Roche.
