Culture and History

The Église Notre-Dame dates from the 17th and 19th centuries. The walls of the nave and the wooden vaulted ceiling are probably the oldest elements of the church. At the beginning of the 19th century, it was enlarged by the construction of transepts.

The 17th-century altarpiece of the Virgin was purchased in Le Mans in 1750 for the Église Notre-Dame. In the Bois de Vendoeuvre, near the Chapelle Sainte-Barbe, you will also find the Tombeau aux chouans. The chapel is located on the grounds of the former fief of La Rouvellière and was built between 1835 and 1840, shortly after the restoration of the chapel at Vendoeuvre Castle.

The Château des Mortraits was built under Louis XIII.

Agriculture

The Ferme de la Fontaine du Feu offers direct sales from its farm shop in Chaufour-Notre-Dame; the farm shop is open by appointment. The farm produces organic lamb, organic Loué chickens, honey and organic apple juice. Nature and Leisure

The Association Sports Loisirs Culture de Chaufour Notre Dame organises hikes of 8 to 10 km on Friday afternoons. The meeting point is at 1:45 p.m. in the car park by the community hall.
