It is particularly characterised by the use of the local ferruginous Roussard stone, which gives it a distinctive reddish colour. The Church of Saint Martin in Degré was under the authority of Beaulieu du Mans Abbey.

La Vagotière is one of the characteristic 15th-century houses in Degré.
