Culture and architectural history
The Église Saint-Pierre in Avezé was originally a priory church. By decree of 12 June 1989, it was classified as a historic monument.
Most of the existing buildings at La Tuilerie des Saules date from the first quarter of the 20th century; the factory closed in 1962. In 1826, the site contained a residential building and a kiln, and new buildings were added in 1860.
The Manoir de La Ponjardière is a small 15th-century country manor and is currently being restored. The architecture of the Château de La Prousterie in Avezé bears witness to the economic upturn around the transition from the 15th to the 16th century.
Nature and trails
The Parcours-découverte d'Avezé follows paths selected for their landscape and architectural quality; there is no dedicated waymarking. The 12.5-kilometre route can be divided into three sections and leads through the village centre and the countryside around Avezé.
Avezé also has a network of rural paths that are particularly popular with hikers from the Sarthe département.
The 18th Rando Cult’ “L’habitat rural de la vallée de l’Huisne” in Avezé is a 16-kilometre cultural hike on 10 October 2026, led with commentary by a guide from the Pays d’art et d’histoire du Perche Sarthois.
Further along the Huisne between Avezé and La Ferté-Bernard, fly-fishing for brown trout and grayling is available; however, population densities are relatively low.
