Turquant: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
In Turquant, troglodytic structures, historic buildings, crafts and the Loire landscape come together as different facets of the town. When planning an individual trip, you may wish to rent a holiday apartment in Turquant.
Culture
The historic sites include the Moulin de la Herpinière, which is listed as a historic monument in Turquant. Its main construction phases date from the 17th and 18th centuries. The Manoir de la Chauvellière dates mainly from the 18th century. Its protected ensemble includes the façades and roofs of the manor house, chapel and pavilion, as well as the fully protected underground dovecote; it was listed on 18 July 1973.
Turquant’s characteristic cultural heritage includes slate-roofed tuffeau houses, semi-underground dwellings, moulin-cavier windmills, manor houses, residences and châteaux. The Église Saint-Aubin was built in the mid-12th century and today consists predominantly of parts dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The church also contains two 17th-century altar reliefs from Fontevraud Abbey, as well as contemporary stained-glass windows on the evangelisation of Anjou.
Townscape and crafts
Turquant’s troglodytic craft village is home to craftspeople and sculptors in its caves. In the tuffeau galleries, several workshops display contemporary works made locally from ceramics, glass, sculpture, leather, textiles and decorative creations.
The circular trail “Turquant, un tendre cœur de pierre” starts and ends at the Place de l’église and is suitable for families.

Turquant is located in the Parc naturel régional Loire-Anjou-Touraine. For visitors, the landscape combines chalk cliffs, troglodytic houses and vineyards overlooking the Loire. The port of Turquant offers panoramic views of the Loire and its birdlife.
