Sainte-Christine: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sainte-Christine is a starting and finishing point of the 9.7-kilometre Sentier des poètes, a circular hiking trail. The route is classified as an easy hike lasting approximately three hours and leads to the Chapelle et oratoire Saint-Joseph in Sainte-Christine.

Culture

The Croix de Combat was named to commemorate the battles during the Vendée Wars. A commemorative plaque was installed at its base in 1971.

The “Lourdes chez nous” grotto was built in 1954 and blessed by Monseigneur Chappoulie on 10 June 1956.

The new church of Sainte-Christine is a 19th-century Neo-Gothic building with a bell-tower entrance crowned by a stone spire. Its Rosary altar features a statue of the Madonna and Child, as well as kneeling statues of Saint Dominic and Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque.

Places to Visit

The wooden Oratoire Saint-Joseph was built at the request of Louise Barrault. The Chapelle Saint-Joseph is accessible year-round; the Oratoire Saint-Joseph can be visited by request. The grounds of the Chapelle et oratoire Saint-Joseph are open to the public but are located on private property; picnics are not permitted there.

Along the Sentier des poètes, visitors can discover the Parc et château du Martreil. The Parc du château du Martreil is an English landscape park in the heart of the Mauges. A treasure hunt is offered to explore the park; free or guided tours are also available on request.
