Culture and history
The Château de Villeneuve is a historic monument dating from the 12th and 15th centuries. The Château de Martigné-Briand is attributed to the 16th century and dated to 1503; the Château des Noyers is dated to the 14th and 17th centuries.
The Église Saint-Simplicien was historically connected to the Château de Martigné-Briand and formed part of the estate’s defensive system. The church as a whole was listed as a historic monument by decree of 12 May 2015.
At the Château de Villeneuve, visitors can take a walk through reconstructed historic gardens; an explanatory document is available for this purpose. The historic gardens bear the official “Beau jardin des pays de la Loire” label.
Landscape and nature
The Coteaux de Martigné-Briand combine a wooded valley floor with cereal fields, dry grasslands, fallow land and numerous vineyards. Plants that are rare in Maine-et-Loire have developed on the exposed limestone rocks and sandy soils.

Routes
The “Sur les pas de Saint Martin” route is 14 km long and starts and ends in Martigné-Briand. It passes through hamlets and by châteaux, a fountain, a chapel, washhouses and megaliths as testimonies to the past.
For the same route, hikes lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes, bike tours lasting 1 hour and horseback rides lasting 2 hours are described.
The Circuit de Maligné runs through vineyards and offers 360-degree panoramas.
Food and wine
Famille Gazeau offers tours and tastings. A private tasting with charcuterie and cheese from local producers is also offered.
The tasting room at the Château de Brizé is open to the public by appointment from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:30.
