The abbey church at the “Déas” site was built at the beginning of the 9th century and is one of the few surviving examples of Carolingian architecture in Europe. The Abbaye-Déas can be visited as part of a self-guided tour. There are information panels in each area, and a visitor guide is provided at reception.

Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu is also an important terroir for the AOC Muscadet Côtes de GrandLieu and Gros Plant wines. In the wider area around Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu are the historic Abbaye de Villeneuve site, the Jules Verne Museum, the Machines de l'île museum and the ruins of the Basse Lande transmitter. Nature

The Base de loisirs de La Boulogne covers 20 hectares between a canal and a river and offers opportunities for outdoor leisure activities. The Boulogne River and Lake Grand Lieu, which can be seen from the surrounding hills, shape the natural and architectural landscape of Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu.

In the wider area around Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu are the islands of Île Pivin, Île Beaulieu, Île Cheviré and Île de Bois.

Routes

The Circuit des Marais starts at Parc de la Boulogne on Avenue de Nantes and leads to the Boulogne marshes and the area around Lake Grand Lieu. Along the route, there are varied agricultural landscapes with meadows, large-scale arable farming, vegetable cultivation and duck farming; with a little attention, it may be possible to spot birds such as the grey heron.

Cycle Loop No. 1 connects La Chevrolière and Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu and passes Parc de la Boulogne on Avenue de Nantes in Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu.
