Cordemais: Holiday Apartments and Houses

At the small port of Cordemais lies the Terre d’Estuaire centre, an immersive, interactive visitor centre. The visit lasts 1.5 hours and is designed to be both playful and educational. At Terre d’Estuaire, visitors can also ascend to a height of 25 metres in a balloon.

Nature

At the Plan d’eau de la Côte, sandy paths, footbridges and boardwalks lead visitors into reed beds. It also features an ornithological observation point and an exhibition about wetland wildlife and plant life.

The Sentier des Cigognes hiking trail runs through the marshes and drainage ditches in the heart of the port of Cordemais, offering the opportunity to discover the wildlife, plant life and birdlife of the Loire estuary.

Hiking

The long-distance GR 3 trail crosses Cordemais from the Coulée du Chaud to the Mont Tiéber stream, then follows the Sillon de Bretagne towards Savenay and the Loire estuary.

Culture and History

The Villa Cheminée artwork is visible at all times; visitors can only climb up to the viewpoint at weekends. From the viewpoint of Villa Cheminée, the view extends across the entire Loire estuary to the ocean; on the other side lies the green Sillon de Bretagne.

The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Cordemais is complete and designed in the Neo-Gothic style. Its choir windows depict the life of John the Baptist and were installed in 1897.

The Croix de Saint-Samson dates from the 11th century and is the only surviving remnant of the Saint-Samson priory.
