Manneville-ès-Plains is located on the Pays de Caux plateau near the English Channel. The village lies around a pond among mature beech trees. Those who choose Manneville-ès-Plains as a holiday destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.

Culture

The parish church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption is located in Manneville-ès-Plains. Since 990, the church of Manneville-ès-Plains has belonged to Fécamp Abbey. Following the fire of 1840, the church's choir, sacristy and side chapels were restored from 1841 to 1842; the nave, west portal and bell tower followed in 1849. The painting “Saint Sébastien” is located in the northern side chapel.

The manor house adjoining the church was built around 1460 in the Gothic style and inhabited by the abbesses of Montivilliers. The old presbytery is covered with sculptures and bas-reliefs that can be viewed more closely. The unusual façade of a house called “A l'oriflamme de Saint Denis” is considered a local visual curiosity.

Landscape

The landscape is characterised by typical Clos cauchois and earth banks planted with oak and beech trees, which provide protection from the wind. The characteristic hedge and bank structures therefore stand alongside the village pond surrounded by mature beech trees.

History

The historic economy of Manneville-ès-Plains combined various forms of weaving using wool, flax and cotton with agriculture. The former presbytery became the town hall in January 2023; the premises were visited during an inspection.
