Culture
The present Sainte-Honorine parish church replaced an older church, of which only the bell tower remains. The church windows were created in 1978 by the George Lecomte workshop and by Eugène Perez. The parish church is built of sandstone and granite and has an entrance tower, a nave, a transept and a semicircular apse.
The original motte was built at the end of the 10th century and further developed until the end of the 12th century. The motte is an artificial hill several metres high with a diameter of 25 to 35 metres. The upper part of the motte was accessible via a footbridge, was surrounded by a wooden palisade and housed the feudal lord’s residence.
Nature and Trails
The Chemin du Repentir is an easy 5.6-kilometre circular hiking trail in Sainte-Honorine-la-Guillaume. It begins in Le Bourg at the church car park. At Val Joas, the trail crosses a stream via a broad stone and continues to Val Joas along the Chemin de la Haie Plessée.
The Chemin du Repentir is also suitable for easy Nordic walking; a duration of 1 hour is specified for this. The landscape of Sainte-Honorine-la-Guillaume includes forests and wooded areas, pastureland and small cultivated fields, as well as diverse vegetation and wide views across the bocage landscape.
The preserved hedgerows in the bocage landscape of Sainte-Honorine-la-Guillaume bear witness to a skill in hedge cutting and weaving that was already practised in the Middle Ages. The 47-kilometre Circuit VTT No. 30 leads to the Bois de la Mousse in Sainte-Honorine-la-Guillaume.
