Culture and History

The Tour de Bonvouloir is the last surviving witness to the former Château de Bonvouloir in Juvigny-sous-Andaine. It was built in 1485 by Guyon Essirard, steward to the Duke of Alençon.

The group of towers at Bonvouloir has been classified as a monument historique since 1926. The Tour de Bonvouloir consists of two interconnected towers.

The Bonvouloir grounds are located near the GR22 and are the starting point for several hiking trails.

From the viewing platform of the Tour de Bonvouloir, the view extends across the Andaine Forest, the Orne and the Mayenne for up to 30 kilometres.

The Chapelle Sainte-Geneviève was rebuilt in 1939 by the priest and artist Honoré Derouet, who came from Juvigny, and decorated with symbols inspired by nature.

The Chapelle Sainte-Geneviève is freely accessible; its interior is not accessible, but can be viewed through a grille.

The dolmen Le Lit de la Gione is associated with a legend about the evil fairy La Gione, who is said to have lived at this site.
