L'etang-Bertrand is home to the Église Saint-Siméon-Stylite, which houses ten protected objects. The present church is an ogival building that was probably constructed towards the end of the 19th century. It has an oval bell tower (2013) with an “à l’impérial” cap and a balustrade framed by openwork quatrefoil shapes. Inside are 19th-century baptismal fonts, statues of Saint Vincent, Saint Siméon and Saint Sebastian from the 19th century, a Mazuet stained-glass window from the 19th to 20th century, a 17th-century altarpiece, and a Madonna and Child.

The Moulin de l'Étang-Bertrand is first mentioned in a document from shortly before 1204. In 1786, it had two mill wheels: one for wheat and buckwheat, and one for barley. The Ferme Manoir de la Dalle dates from the late 16th or early 17th century.

The Carrière-Bertran was a medieval road leading from Bricquebec to the Baie des Veys. As an old route, it is documented by a baronial charter dated 1395; it led from Bricquebec towards the fords of Saint-Clément and the bank near Buchierville. The 9th US Air Force monument was inaugurated in June 2009 and commemorates the B-26 Marauder 41-31968 “Hearse for six”, which crashed at this location on 13 April 1944.

Nature and trails

The Grosmont stream crosses L'Étang-Bertrand from west to east and flows into the Dalle.

The “Balade dans le bocage entre Négreville et l'Etang-Bertrand” runs mainly along country roads and paths. It is accessible to mountain bikers, pedestrians and horse riders and includes two crossings of lightly trafficked roads, as well as a short wet section at the end in winter.

The Auberge de la Vallée de la Douve is located in L'Étang-Bertrand in the Cotentin and offers food to eat on site or take away, including pizzas, burgers and homemade French fries. The Maison de l’Oraille is a private 18th-century property that has been converted into a guesthouse with a gîte and rooms.
