The Roches de Ham are located in the municipalities of Condé-sur-Vire and Torigny-les-Villes. In 1914, they became the first site in Manche to be classified for its picturesque landscapes; they are also one of the 26 Espaces naturels sensibles managed by the Conseil départemental.

The Roches de Ham are a shale rock massif in Brectouville, near Condé-sur-Vire. They are 105 metres high, overlook the Vire Valley and offer views of the surrounding area, characterised by the region’s green bocage landscape.

Water and Cycling

The canoe-kayak centre in Condé-sur-Vire rents out canoes, kayaks, mountain bikes and stand-up paddleboards. Private visitors can go mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding there – either independently or under the guidance of instructors.

The club in Condé-sur-Vire welcomes visitors every day from 1 May to 30 September, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., for canoe or kayak excursions on site or river trips. In July and August, it is open continuously from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Vélorail de Condé-sur-Vire runs from Condé-sur-Vire to Gourfaleur along the Vire and the towpath. A round trip covers approximately 11 km and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Vélorail de Condé-sur-Vire is accessible to wheelchair users; ramps are available to secure wheelchairs to the rail bikes.

Culture and History

La Chapelle-sur-Vire is a neo-Gothic building made of local red stone, with statues miraculously discovered in the 14th and 16th centuries, numerous votive offerings and 15th-century alabaster works from the high altar, classified as historic monuments.

La Chapelle-sur-Vire has been a pilgrimage site at the foot of the Vire since the 12th century. At La Chapelle-sur-Vire, there is a towpath, a Stations of the Cross trail and a large leisure and picnic area.
