Avranches: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture
At the Scriptorial, the museum of the manuscripts of Mont-Saint-Michel in Avranches, twelve manuscripts are displayed in the treasure room in presentations led by an expert. The selection changes every three months. The Scriptorial is located in the old town quarter of Avranches in a fortified complex with a keep, which forms part of a former fortress that has been rebuilt several times.
The Bibliothèque patrimoniale preserves 400 manuscripts, including 203 medieval manuscripts from the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel. On the first Wednesday of each month, the Bibliothèque patrimoniale offers guided tours. The Musée d'art et d'histoire d'Avranches is one of the oldest museums in western France.
The treasury of the Basilica of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais is located in a small, freely accessible room that is open to the public. It displays the relic of Saint Aubert as well as goldsmiths' work, liturgical accessories and furnishings. The Basilica of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais also preserves the alleged skull of Saint Aubert, the Bishop of Avranches and founder of Mont-Saint-Michel.
The Donjon d'Avranches is a fragment of a crenellated curtain wall and a remnant of Avranches Castle. Climbing the Donjon d'Avranches offers views of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the town's rooftops.

The Jardin des Passeurs et Hortus includes a medieval-inspired garden with an orchard as well as beds of medicinal and dye plants. The garden is freely accessible year-round at no charge.
The ZNIEFF area “Estuaire et herbus de la Sée et de la Sélune” includes Avranches. The area “Estuaire et herbus de la Sée et de la Sélune” is protected as a wetland under the Ramsar Convention. It is located at the confluence of the Sée and Sélune rivers and has a high diversity of flora and fauna.
The area is home to a large roosting site for gulls and, at low tide or depending on the tides, important feeding grounds for ducks. The “Estuaire et herbus de la Sée et de la Sélune” area is regularly visited by grey seals or harbour seals (Phoca vitulina).
