A notable chapter in the local history is Morval’s rebuilt church: it was almost a replica of its predecessor, but was built from different materials. The church bells of Morval were erected in 1993, after the church had been destroyed in September 1987.

Culture
The Calvary cross of Morval commemorates the restoration and blessing of Morval’s centuries-old Calvary cross on 5 May 1946. It is located at the northern entrance to the village on the D74. Morval’s three bells stand on the site of the former churches.
After the inhabitants had left Morval, the village was bombed and completely destroyed. The reconstruction of Morval began at the start of 1919, after some inhabitants had visited the ruins and barracks had been erected.
During the First World War, control of Morval changed hands several times: French troops recaptured the village on 25 September 1916, lost it again on 23 March 1918, and finally retook it on 29 August 1918.
Morval Military Cemetery is a British military cemetery containing 17 German First World War graves in a German section of honour.

Morval is located in the plain of southern Artois.
The surrounding area of Morval is home to the Museum of the Great War, a museum, and the Abbaye Notre-Dame de la Brelle, a monastery. In the wider region around Morval are the Abbaye de Vaucelles, a historic site, and the Ancienne Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Corbie, also a historic site.
