Culture and history
The Phare de Calais has been classified as a historic monument since 2010. The summit is reached by climbing 271 steps; at the top, a balcony offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

The Citadelle de Calais can be explored on foot or by bicycle; a particularly pleasant entrance leads through the Porte de Neptune at Square Vauban. The citadel also offers an orienteering course through its paths, wooded areas and fortification walls. It preserves the last visible fortification walls of the former Calais Nord.
Fort Risban is now a promenade along the harbour and a footpath to the seafront promenade.
City life
A market is held at Place d’Armes every Wednesday and Saturday. Since 2020, the Calais Street Art Festival has transformed the city into a cohesive open-air presentation of urban art featuring more than 60 works.
