Billy-Berclau: Holiday apartments and houses

In Billy-Berclau, the headframe and winding building of the Fosse n° 5 de la Compagnie des Mines de Meurchin were listed in their entirety as a historic monument by decree of 8 November 2011; the preserved headframe complex of this mine was converted into a tower for the manufacture of hunting shot.

The Notre Dame church was rebuilt after the two previous churches had been destroyed during the First World War. It contains a wooden crucifix bearing the symbols of the four Evangelists: eagle, lion, ox and angel.

Nature and activities

Parc Cabiddu is a nature-oriented family park located within the municipalities of Wingles and Billy-Berclau.

Several signposted cycle paths of varying difficulty start at the water sports centre there; Parc Cabiddu also offers visitors stand-up paddleboarding.

The Chico-Mendès site can be reached via Billy-Berclau: take the Billy-Berclau exit from the N47 between Lens and La Bassée, drive through the town and, after crossing the canal, follow the signs to the site. It comprises four ponds; hundreds of newts and other amphibians live in one of them every year. Educational panels provide information about the various habitats and their inhabitants.

The Artothèque d'Hénin-Beaumont museum is located near Billy-Berclau. Further afield in the region are the historic site of Brayelle Abbey, Kemmelberg Hill, the historic site of Abbaye Notre-Dame de Beaupré and the historic site of Beffroi de l'hôtel de ville de Lille.
