Looberghe: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Looberghe can be explored via waterways, circular trails and historic buildings. The Lang Gracht is a 16 km-long waterway that connects the Broucks marshland in the area of Looberghe with the Bergues Canal. The “Au fil de l’eau: Gracht et Haute Colme” circular trail runs along the banks of the Haute Colme Canal; its starting point is at the church in Looberghe. The Café-Rando Au Lion des Flandres is located in the centre of Looberghe and offers refreshments, local cuisine or picnic facilities, as well as information about places worth visiting. Light meals are available by reservation.

Nature and trails

The “Circuit des nouvelles terres” circular trail has loops of 9 or 18 km. These are indicated as taking 2 hours 30 minutes and 5 hours respectively. In Looberghe, the trail passes the Chapelle Sainte-Germaine; the Chapelle des Roses is also located along the route of this circular trail. The long-distance hiking trail GR 128A also passes through the village; it is an additional route of the GR 128 between Watten and Bourbourg.

Culture and history

The Regost windmill was formerly used for drainage. Its remains were registered as a historic monument on 6 March 1979. The Regost Mill, also known as the Moulin de l’Hostine, is a mill with an Archimedes’ screw.

Another historic windmill is the Meesemaecker in Looberghe. It dates from 1860, is known as the “Mill of Million bricks” and was classified as a historic monument in March 1979.

In the Church of Saint Martin in Looberghe, the organ was acquired in 1793 from the convent of the choir nuns of Bourbourg. The organ case dates from 1713 and has been classified as a protected movable cultural object since 1980.

The annual Festival international d’orgue en Flandre lists Looberghe as a venue on 25 October 2026.
