Base Nautique Flandre Lys offers canoeing, kayaking, pedal boating and stand-up paddleboarding. Its range of activities also includes mountain biking, electric-assist bicycles, orienteering and archery.

The marina of Haverskerque is located on the Lys next to a 6,625-square-metre body of water. The Eolys leisure facility is open to the public every day throughout the year from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Nature

Jardin d'Astrée is a 2,000-square-metre natural garden in the Lys Valley with a naturally filtered pond. It is managed without fertilisers or pesticides and is home to regional flora alongside rarer plants and various botanical asters. The grounds are laid out around a Flemish farm complex; rare trees and shrubs border a small parish garden.

The Circuit de Tannay is a 6-kilometre, approximately two-hour hiking trail starting at the Église Saint-Vincent in Haverskerque. It follows the towpath along the Lys to an iron footbridge and crosses the Vieille Lys on a small bridge. Along the way, it runs between the banks of the Lys canal and the edge of the Nieppe state forest.

The Circuit des trois clochers passes through varied landscapes along the edge of the forest, on the banks of the canal and through agricultural countryside. The very easy hiking trail is 11 kilometres long, takes approximately three hours and is generally accessible in all seasons; during the hunting season, however, access to the edge of the forest may be prohibited.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Vincent in Haverskerque has been documented since the early 12th century and was rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries. It has three parallel naves, three polygonal apses and a central tower with Romanesque features.

Haverskerque British Cemetery can be reached from the village centre via the D122 towards Merville and then via Rue du Colonel Harrison. It was established in March 1918 by the 33rd and 54th Casualty Clearing Stations and continued to be used during the Battles of the Lys. The cemetery commemorates 90 casualties from the First World War and 48 casualties from the Second World War.
