Culture
The former bishop's palace on Place de la Truffière now serves as Puy-l'Évêque's town hall. The tower of the former bishop's palace was built in the final decades of the 13th century.
The parish church of Saint-Sauveur, later the Church of the Transfiguration, was built outside the city walls, slightly above the town situated on the Lot. It is partly classified as a historic monument and partly listed; the corresponding protection decisions date from March 20, 1912, and October 21, 1925.
On August 21, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., the guided tour “Historic Puy-l'Évêque” is scheduled to take place. A certified guide explains the medieval and Renaissance history of the town through its most important buildings. The Chapelle Saint-Michel ou des Pénitents was created before 1444 by joining two 13th-century houses.
The Virebent Porcelain Manufactory Museum presents the artisanal production of porcelain and faience around the old Saint Joseph charcoal kiln – from raw material to finished piece. The Virebent Porcelain Manufactory opened in Puy-l'Évêque in 1924. It is one of the last porcelain workshops in France to manufacture entirely in France and works with the three main material families: porcelain, faience, and stoneware.
Wine and Crafts
Puy-l'Évêque lies entirely within the Cahors AOP and is located in the heart of the Cahors wine-growing region. Vinoltis on Place du Rampeau combines the tourist information office with an experience and interpretation area dedicated to the Cahors wine-growing region. Three scenographic areas offer a playful yet in-depth introduction to the people, terroir, vines, professions, landscapes, history, and aromas of winegrowing.
The Cave des Vignerons has a tasting room and a reception area. The wines of 17 wineries are presented there by vintage.
Landscape
Les Jardins Suspendus form a footpath between the upper town and the river. The path was created in 2016 on the site of medieval ruins and offers views of the wine-growing landscape and the town's rooftops. The Place du Rampeau viewpoint is located on the site of the former livestock market and offers a wide view of the medieval village of Puy-l'Évêque.
The Circuit de Martignac trail invites visitors to stop at the church in Martignac to admire its wall frescoes. The Du « Puech » aux Vignes circular trail begins with a beautiful view of Puy-l'Évêque, the medieval village on the Lot, and is described as a route without major difficulties. The Puy-l'Évêque–Soturac section of the Voie verte runs entirely along the former Cahors–Monsempron-Libos railway line, which was closed to passenger traffic in 1971, and enables visitors to safely explore the Lot Valley.
By the Lot
A 100% electric gabare boat trip around Puy-l'Évêque makes it possible to observe the river's flora and fauna silently from the water. The Copeyre base in Puy-l'Évêque offers pedal-boat trips on the Lot at the foot of the town, as well as canoeing and paddle activities on the Lot at the foot of the town.
In 2022, a Big Paddle with a slide for up to 10 people was mentioned as a new attraction at the Copeyre base in Puy-l'Évêque. At the lieu-dit Méouré near Camping Les Vignes, visitors can swim and make use of the campsite's amenities there, such as the bar, food service, bicycle rental, and grocery store.
