History
The former Notre-Dame Cistercian nunnery in Lissac-et-Mouret was founded in 1287 by Dieudonné Barasc, Lord of Montbrun.
The surviving remains of the former Notre-Dame Cistercian nunnery include most of the present-day bell tower with the chapel on the ground floor, as well as two sections of wall that may have belonged to the convent buildings. The remains may date from the second half of the 13th century.
The eastern part of the church of the former Cistercian nunnery contains a two-bay chapel with rib vaulting behind the present-day choir. Walled-up arcades have been preserved in its rear wall.
The historic sites Abbaye de Lissac and Abbaye Saint-Sauveur are located in the immediate vicinity of Lissac-et-Mouret. The historic site Prieuré de Vic-lès-Capdenac is also located nearby. Further away in the surrounding region is the Château d'Assier palace.
