Culture

The Église Saint-Martin has been mentioned since the mid-12th century and has two bell towers. Another religious building stands in the hamlet of Saint-Bonnet in Gignac: the Église Saint-Bonnet has a single-nave layout, a polygonal apse and a tall square bell tower.

Some corbels on the cornice of the apse of the Église Saint-Bonnet are decorated with sculptures. The motifs include human and animal heads as well as other representations. The oldest sections of the church walls may date from the late 12th or early 13th century.

The cultural offering also includes the Écomusée “Du grain à la farine”, which forms part of the guided tours of the Moulin à vent de Gignac. The mill is open to the public on scheduled dates and to organised groups by prior registration. From April to September, the Moulin à vent de Gignac offers the fitting of the sails, milling demonstrations and guided tours.

Nine marked hiking trails start in Gignac and lead through the landscapes and areas of interest in the municipality. The local hiking offering includes the circular trail “Circuit Nature / Le Roc Noir”.
